Scientifically, the yoni mudra yoga gives you a sense of withdrawal. This means that the focus that is normally on the outside world is shifted to the universe within while doing this mudra. So this is practiced to experience the world within you that is away from the real world.

How To Do Yoni Mudra Yoga? | Yoni Mudra Steps

  1. Place a mat on the floor and sit in the middle of it in any of these poses-
  • Padmasana – Lotus Pose 
  • Sukhasana Easy Pose 
  • Swastikasana- Auspicious Pose 
  1. Bring your palms to rest on your knees and open up all your fingers while closing your eyes. 
  2. Now, bring your palms together with your fingers wide open while the tips of all the fingers are touching each other. 
  3. Bring your palm close to your naval; the solar plexus. Interlock all the fingers and position the index fingers downwards towards the floor. From your thumb to your index finger, this will look like the shape of a womb. 
  4. Finally, rest your hands on the knees and stretch your thumbs and index fingers in the opposite direction. 
  5. Remain in this position for about 5-7 minutes and do not forget to close your eyes.
  6. Release the hands slowly to relax and get at it again a few times. 

Contraindications of Yoni Mudra Yoga

While this is a safe to-do mudra, we suggest some precautions that you can keep in mind: 

  1. People with injuries to their palms, wrists, fingers, or hands should avoid performing this. 
  2. People with pelvic disorders of any kind are recommended not to perform this gesture. However, to strengthen your pelvic muscles, we suggest you try Ashwini Mudra
  3. Women who are pregnant, especially in the first trimester should not attempt this. It is also suggested that this should not be performed during menstruation. 
  4. If you are a teenager with hormonal imbalance then you should refrain from doing it. 
  5. This mudra activates the female energy in the body, thus men with infertility or low testosterone issues should avoid it.
